CANDLE SAFETY

WARNING!

Burn within sight.

Keep away from children & pets.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Never use water to extinguish a candle.

Ensure wicks are upright & trimmed to 5mm

Do not burn METAMELBOURNE candles for less than 1 hour or more than 4 hours at a time.

Stop burning when 1cm of un-melted wax remains in the vessel

Never move a burning candle. Ensure the candle is extinguished, wax is solid & jar is cold before handling.

Vessels may become hot. Burn candles on an appropriate flat heat-resistant surface. Note, wood is not heat resistant. Place vessel onto the lid for safe burning on wooden surfaces.

Place candles away from drafts, small children, pets & flammable material.

Do not burn for less than one hour or more than four hours at a time.

FURTHER CANDLE CARE

Prevent soot from forming inside your vessel by keeping wicks placed evenly upright & trimmed to .5mm.

Do not use vessels if concrete, glass, or marble is cracked, chipped or broken.

All of our candles have multiple wicks, they must all be lit every time the candle is used to ensure even burning & safety.

Never introduce liquids or foreign objects into candles, keep it free of wick trimmings & any flammable materials.

If the vessel becomes blackened while burning, extinguish the candle, allow it to cool, then clean with a dry paper towel by gently wiping.

When not in use, keep candles covered using the lid provided to avoid dust build-up & maintain fragrance strength.

Use a candle snuffer to properly extinguish a candle flame. If not available, blow gently & steadily on the flame until it is extinguished. We advise against using lids to extinguish candles as this traps smoke in the vessel & may impact the quality of the fragrance.

CANDLE FAQ

Are METAMELBOURNE Creations vegan friendly?

Our products are Small Batch | Vegan | Cruelty-Free | Minimal-Waste.

We & our suppliers do not test on animals.

Where are METAMELBOURNE products sourced?

All of our products are sourced & made from Australian suppliers.

How long are METAMELBOURNE candle burn times?

All burn times are listed in the description of each vessel within our collection.

How often do I trim my candle wicks?

Please ensure your wicks are trimmed prior to every light. As wax levels drop, the wicks become longer so we advise that you trim the wicks to 5mm, as well as ensuring they're centred & upright prior to each new burn.

What is the strength of the fragrance in my candle?

Fragrances can vary in strength due to an array of factors, such as natural, synthetic compositions, as well as the nature of the notes.

Some fragrances act like a cloud, building over time in a room & lingering, these are often more powdery, feminine fragrances, that use floral, musk or sugared notes. Whilst other fragrances have concentrations of strong fragrance notes, such as those with oud, wood, leathers, caramel, citrus & pepper.

Why can I smell my candle less or more at times?

As humans, we adapt to smells very quickly. It's called olfactory adaptation, which is the temporary inability to distinguish a scent after a prolonged exposure to that substance. This is why perhaps you may feel your candle fragrance strength is lessened after being in the same room, yet upon re-entering the space, experience the scent to be stronger.

Why does vessel size affect fragrance?

The size of a vessel emits a scent throw range, to experience your fragrance stronger, we recommend burning our PETITE in smaller spaces such as bedrooms, our MILIEU in medium living areas, & suggest our GRANDE & LE PLUS GRANDE in open plan living areas & entertaining spaces.

Why do I need to burn my candles for specific times?

If you burn for less than one hour the wax may not be melted all the way to the outside of the candle. Wax has a memory, and if a full burn pool is not created, the candle can form a pattern of tunnelling which leaves un-melted wax around the edges, & may reduce the overall fragrance throw, or eventually drown the wicks so the candle will not stay alight.

Why is black residue forming inside my candle vessel?

A candle wick requires trimming between burns or if the candle has been burning continuously for two or more hours. The wicks should be trimmed to about 5mm from the wax, only then will the candle stop emitting carbon - the black residue. If there is black residue on your candle jar, use a dry piece of paper towel & simply wipe the inside of the vessel clean when unlit.

CLEANING YOUR VESSEL

Once your METAMELBOURNE scented candle is finished with 1cm of un-melted wax remaining, & you wish to clean your vessel of all wax & wicks, we recommend using the below methods:

Freezing: Place your METAMELBOURNE vessel into the freezer for 2-3 hours, this will allow the remaining wax to shrink. You may then use a stiff object such as butter knife to pry the wax out of the vessel, this method will remove the wicks within the wax.

Heating: Place your METAMELBOURNE vessel into the oven on a temperature of 50-70 degrees, allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes, until the vessel becomes warmed & wax appears softened. You may then use a stiff object such as a butter knife to push the wick base & remove from the vessel. Use a paper towel to wipe remaining wax from the vessel.

Repeat if necessary, to remove all wax or use hot soapy water for any residue.

Our aluminium wick bases are recyclable; & we ask you dispose consciously.

Please do not place vessels into microwaves to melt wax.
